wine friday.

Oh snap.

It’s our first Wine Friday.

I enjoy wine, especially while cooking or when paired nicely with a delicious meal.  What I enjoy nearly as much is the adventure of finding new wines, particularly ones that don’t break the bank (and let’s face it, some of the more expensive wines aren’t much better in comparison to the cheaper ones anyway).

And so we begin a weekly adventure to find fabulous wines under $10.

For your consideration, Crane Lake Malbec 2009…

Their winemaker describes it as having “aromas of plum and raspberry.  There are flavors of blackberry and cherry with soft tannins providing a smooth finish…a willing partner to a variety of foods, favorites including:  leg of lamb, sausage, duck, pasta in a red sauce, and grilled steak.”

Oh, and I found it at Sprouts for $3.33.

What are your frugal wine favorites?

Two picks for you are, first, one of my standard go to wines, Perrin & Fils Cotes du Rhone from France. Cotes du Rhone wines always seem to be very good in terms of quality and fruit flavor with just enough tannins and oakiness to make the connoisseur enjoy it. The Reserve is available at K&L Wines (klwines.com) for 8.99. Another recommendation is the Italian 2007 Mezzacorona Cab for 7.99 (but only 5.99 if you join their wine club email list). This one is usually 10.99 elsewhere.

    Cheers!

    • Thanks Jonny!
Do you have and sub $10 favorites at TJ’s? Or can I find any of these wines there?
